Request For Grant Proposal

The Indiana Kids First Trust Fund (KFTF) is prepared to distribute approximately $1 million over several grants within the next 12 months.  Individual grants are expected to range from $50,000 to $500,000.  This Request for Proposal (RFP) outlines the goals, guidelines, eligibility, proposal requirements, and timing of this grant proposal solicitation process.

Goals and Areas of Focus

The overall goal of this grant proposal solicitation is to raise awareness of the importance of community-based child abuse & neglect prevention efforts; increase coordination & collaboration among prevention initiatives across the state; and support vulnerable children and families with innovative and effective programs aimed at keeping children from entering the foster care system.

KFTF Board Of Directors
KFTF will consider and fund proposals in the following areas
  • Development and implementation of a Comprehensive Advocacy & Communication Campaign to raise awareness of the importance of local community-based prevention initiatives and promote the implementation of specific community-based prevention programs and activities.  Grantee will develop innovative and effective messaging and procure appropriate communication media and channels for the benefit of both a statewide campaign and local efforts to be managed by community-based organizations interested in promoting child abuse & neglect prevention, such as local Prevention Councils.  Grantee will have access to successful advocacy & communication efforts in other states through KFTF’s membership in the national Children’s Trust Fund Alliance.
  • Development and implementation of onsite support as well as technical and financial assistance to Indiana’s Framework for the Prevention of Child Abuse & Neglect’s (Prevention Framework) new and existing pilot sites.  Using the Prevention Framework’s Toolkit, grantee will work with local community organizations to develop and support a backbone organization that will adopt a collective impact approach, identify local community needs & strengths, create a community action plan, promote community awareness, and track key outcomes & results.  Grantee will also explore the coordination of local prevention efforts through initiatives such as Family Resource Centers and/or innovative and effective approaches to Central Navigation to efficiently connect at risk children and families to existing local community services.
  • Development and implementation of local, community-based child abuse & neglect prevention programs and initiatives.  Grantee will either provide direct services at the local community level to support at-risk and vulnerable children and families including, but not limited to, efficiently connecting at-risk children and families to existing local community services; or, act as pass-through entity to local prevention and/or social services organization to implement such programs and initiatives.
